Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will make his hosting debut at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, scheduled for May 15 on NBC.
His appearance as emcee will also mark the 25th anniversary of his first Billboard Music Award win in 1997 for his album “No Way Out.” Additionally, Combs will produce the show live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
“It will be different from any awards show. Bringing the love and setting the frequency at an all-time high,” Combs said in a statement. “The Billboard Music Awards truly represent the artists and where music is today, so I’m thrilled to put on the biggest live performances and surprises. The world needs to tune in to see.
Combs is a two-time Billboard Music Award winner for Top Rap Song (1997) and Top Rap Artist (1997). He had 37 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 Songs Chart and last took to the stage at the awards show in 2017 to pay tribute to The Notorious BIG on what would have been the 45th anniversary of the defunct icon.
The Billboard Music Awards honor the top performing artists of the year on the Billboard Charts across all genres of music. The show will not only honor Mary J. Blige with the Icon Award, but will feature performances from Burna Boy, Latto, Megan Thee Stallion, Rauw Alejandro, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Blige herself.
The awards will air live from coast to coast on May 15 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC. It will also be broadcast live on Peacock.
The 2022 Billboard Music Awards are produced by MRC Live & Alternative. Combs and Robert Deaton serve as executive producers.
