CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWL) The first-ever Iowa Music Awards proved to be a great success, with several eastern Iowa artists honored and recognized for their work.

from T1 Entertainment, held a big event at the Olympic Southside Theater on Sunday, October 30e, the Iowa Music Awards. The Iowa Music Awards, aka the IMAs, is a ceremony where performers, artists, and contributors are all celebrated and recognized by their peers, fans, family members, and industry professionals. Participants traveled from across the country to help celebrate our nominees and winners. All who submitted were acknowledged with a certificate signed in person by T1 Entertainment Founder and CEO Antonio Chalmers. The winners were given a platform on stage to publicly receive their trophy and deliver an acceptance speech.
This black tie affair exceeded expectations, mirroring top awards shows such as the Grammys or the MTV Awards. The red carpet provided a high-level experience for all guests. Lines wound up the stairs and around the building with anxious guests delighted to experience the very first IMAs. Upon entering, you are greeted by photographers, a well-stocked bar, and founder Antonio Chalmers waiting to shake each guest’s hand and personally thank them for attending.

The doors opened at 4 p.m. to the sound of Dj Binja playing songs submitted for the Iowa Music Awards by artists from across the state. The first performance of the evening was kicked off by rock band Evan Stock. Following the live performance, opening remarks by State Senate Representative Liz Bennett led to the National Anthem which was graciously performed by Alicia Monee. Trophies and speeches were presented in standard award show fashion with entertaining presenters and hosts, Tone Da Boss and PinkeyTheBrain. There was even a surprise performance by Isaac Jordan where he emerged from the audience with dancers and a light show.
“The vision became a dream and Tone, I’m so grateful you didn’t stop until it came to life. To be completely surrounded by so many amazing humans in a room full of dream chasers, visionary, kind and creative souls… It was literally magical,” says the author, motivational speaker and “Just Bree” podcaster.
The categories that were recognized at the event were Best of Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, Rock, Alternative Artist, Dj, Duo, Cover Band, Podcast, engineer, photographer, videographer, rapper, singer, World Impact and all of life. achievement award.
“Iowa is officially on the map now, this was the event to open the door,” said Troy “DJ Comamndo” Williams, winner of the lifetime achievement award.
The categories recognized publicly online through the website and all social media platforms are Best Album, Best Single, Best Collaboration, Producer, Inspirational Song, Graphic Designer, Performer, Band, Lyricist and the Big Bang Foundation Prize.
T1 Entertainment plans to make this event an annual celebration along with the other 3 big shows they host, namely Iowa Summer Jam, T1’s Birthday Party and the upcoming Winter Ball in December at the Doubletree by Hilton.
