The first edition of the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) France witnessed a celebration of Ghanaian music in Toulouse, France, with KiDi and Black Sherif among the big winners.
KiDi continued its dominance in the year under review, winning Entertainer of the Year, beating out Sarkodie, Kuami Eugene, Fameye, Diana Hamilton and Black Sherif, who were nominated in this category.
KiDi, who earlier this year won Artist of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards and 3Music Awards, also won Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, Artist afro pop of the year and the album of the year at this GMA France of the year.
Black Sherif, who has been making waves in the local and international music space, also picked up three awards on the night, including Hiplife/Hiphop Artist of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year and New Artist of the Year.
Diana Hamilton won Gospel Artist of the Year while Piesie Esther’s single “Wobedi Adanse” won Gospel Song of the Year.
In summary, various artists received honors in 27 categories, including Group of the Year, Record of the Year, Male and Female Vocalist of the Year, International Collaboration of the Year, among others.
The GMA Awards program aims to showcase and celebrate the best national and international artists, while developing Ghanaian music in Francophone countries.
The awards gala was honored by Ghana’s Ambassador to France, Madame Anna Bossman, and the Ghanaian community in France and neighboring countries, who attended the glamorous ceremony.
