BTS did not attend the 2022 Billboard Music Awards

The 2022 Billboard Music Awards took place on May 15. BTS was nominated in six categories and won Best Duo/Group, Top Selling Song, and Top Selling Artist in the song. While Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook were nominated for multiple awards at the 2022 BBMAs, BTS did not attend the awards show in Las Vegas.

BTS did not attend the 2022 Billboard Music Awards

The 2022 BBMAs took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 15. Over the past few years, BTS members have attended the awards show whenever possible. Often the septet would perform a new song at the BBMAs.

At BBMA 2021, BTS performed their song “Butter” virtually, and they performed their song “Dynamite” virtually at BBMA 2020.

This year, BTS did not participate in person or virtually. In a report by Yonhap News Agencythe Korean media has confirmed in advance that Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook will not be participating in the 2022 BBMAs.

While BTS’ attendance at the 2022 BBMAs was sorely missed, the group opted out of attending the annual awards show.

On June 10, BTS will release an anthology album titled Evidenceand it will be their first major album since 2020. Because of this, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are preparing for another comeback.

Since BTS usually performs new material at the BBMAs and their new album won’t be released until June 10, the septet didn’t have a new song to debut on the BBMA stage.

BTS won three awards at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards

At the 2022 BBMAs, BTS was named a finalist for Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Billboard Global (Excl. US) Artist, Top Selling Song, Top Billboard Global (Excl. US) Song, and Top Rock Song. The group earned two Best Selling Song nominations for their songs “Butter” and “Permission to Dance.”

All of BTS’ nominated categories were announced ahead of the main award show broadcast in a TikTok stream. BTS won three of the six nominated categories. By winning the Top Duo/Group, BTS earned their third win in the category and tied One Direction’s record of three Top Duo/Group wins at the BBMAs.

In addition to winning the Top Duo/Group, BTS won the top-selling song for “Butter” and the top artist for the song sales.

BTS will release an album titled “Proof” in June

BTS’ new album Evidence will be released on June 10. The album’s track listing includes some of BTS’s hit singles, demo tracks, and new songs. The first single from Evidence is entitled “Still to come”.

According to a press release on the album, “The anthology album Evidence celebrates BTS’ nine-year journey since their debut and opens a new chapter on their 10th year as artists. The new album will feature various tracks that feature BTS’ thoughts on their past, present, and future, including three new tracks.
