2022 predictions: Los Angeles musical artists to watch with Jensen McRae

With a sensual voice that carefully articulates every syllable of wisdom stitched into her lyrics, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Jensen McRae creates deeply sentimental music that blossomed this year with the release of her debut EP, Who hurt you?. Her propensity to write and sing is also illustrated in her latest single “My ego dies at the end” and in recent collaborations with other artists such as Chiiild’s single “Gone”.

Guided by executive producer Rahki (Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, EarthGang, Sampa The Great, etc.), McRae’s EP mixes the subtle touch of a songwriter – McRae wrote all the songs on his album – with a its polished and hi-if. Slow and methodical, the album rushes in with undercurrents of deep-seated emotions and surface observations. Writing about love, life, and the complicated times we find ourselves in, McRae treats themes with care and finesse.

Born in Santa Monica and raised in Woodland Hills, McRae is a Los Angeles artist through and through, steeped in the rich musical and cultural influences that surround her, including her own background growing up in a biracial Black and Jewish family.

This year’s success for McRae has been building slowly for a long time, with years of dedication and passion for music taking her to GRAMMY Camp in Los Angeles and USC’s Thornton School of Music on a full scholarship. . With a mountain of momentum behind her, Jensen McRae heads into 2022 with performances at Primavera Sound and additional tour dates across the United States in support of Amos Lee.
